another rant about transphobia at Michigan Womyn's Music Festival (theory whoring)
Women and/or lesbians face oppressions. This is true. But so called "women born women" also have the privilege of never having their sex questioned. And though their gender identity might get questioned, they never have to face discrimination, and even violence, because they do not fit into the binary of "sex". Yes, all people who attend MWMF face oppression(s). But some face more oppression(s) than others. And some of the women who want to attend Michigan face oppressions that can not be compared to each other.

I'm a so-called "woman born woman", and I know that I face discrimination because I am a woman and because I am a lesbian. But I also know that fitting neatly into the binary of sex assignment privileges me. But I also fit into categories of class, monetary, race, ethnicity, first world, educational, non-disabled, and religious privilege.

At times, it seems as if the default of "women's experience" on this board assumes a white woman's experience. The Women of Color tent is important because Michigan is a predominately white space.

Michigan is also a predominately so called "woman born woman" space.
